Neptun Meet Street - Virtual spaces

Abbreviated as NMS. For each course you take, a virtual space is automatically created that all students who have taken the course will be members of. The lecturer has the opportunity to share information about the course, upload documents, learning aids, and announce mid-term assignments and tests. In the same way, you can submit your student assignments and complete mid-year electronic assignments on this interface. NMS can be accessed after logging in to Neptun by clicking the “Neptun Meet Street” icon next to the “Education Admin.” tab on the main page. The system sends notifications to members and guests of the virtual spaces about current tasks and uploaded materials.

The Education Admnistration interface is the default main page upon logging in to Neptun, you need to switch to Neptun Meet Street to reach the virtual spaces.

When you switch to NMS, the list of virtual spaces is automatically displayed. The same interface is available by clicking on “Virtual Space/Virtual Spaces”. A summary panel that shows the number of new documents, uploaded documents, forums, and other tools is displayed.

Use the filter panel below the tools to search for a specific virtual space. There are two types of virtual space in the system:

A) Course-type spaces that are related to a specific course taken in a specific semester. The administrators of these spaces are the lecturers and the members are the students.

B) Other types of spaces that are not related to the course are created on independent organizing principles, e.g. departmental virtual space or a virtual space to help students in a particular training.

It is recommended to set the display to the “My Spaces” radio button so that only the virtual spaces of which you are a member of will be displayed. Then check the “Course” checkbox in the “Filter” block and select the desired semester. Thus, the range of displayed virtual spaces can be further narrowed to the courses taken in the given semester. The name of the virtual space contains the title of the subject, so to search for a specific course, simply type the first part of the title of the subject you are looking for in the “Virt. space name” search box. A list of spaces that match the filter criteria is displayed by clicking the List button at the bottom of the interface. Click on the name of the virtual space to enter the space.

Below each item, the boxes usually display the last 3 created or modified items. By clicking on "All items" in the given box, we can see all items belonging to the given type.

The lecturer can write and publish news on the virtual space. News give relevant information to all member, and act as related forums. All members can comment on the news, the post is visible to all members of the virtual space. News can be used by the lecturer, for example, to announce retake exam dates, or even to post a change of location or date.

You can comment on the news by clicking on the “New comment” button.

The Documents tile serves as the interface for teaching materials, aids and notes. (videos, presentations, word documents can be uploaded). Documents can be uploaded by the administrator and the members, i.e. the lecturer and the students as well. You can upload a new document or a previously uploaded to a given space. You can pre-upload your own document library. You can only edit your own uploads. You can download one or more uploaded documents together by selecting the desired ones. When uploading a document, you can choose whether the document is a task or other type.

A subscription list is used to organize joint activities for members of the virtual space. It can also be used, for example, to organize groups within the course and to subscribe to consultations. A subscription list can be created by anyone, whether a member or an admin.

The blog works similarly to a forum. Every admin and member can comment on the posts. Unlike the forum, in the blog element, we also have the option to attach a document to the topic. You can add a new document or choose from documents already stored in the document library. You can post by clicking the "New blog post" button at the bottom of the tile.

The members tile shows the members of the virtual space. When logged in, you can send a message to the members of the group by clicking on the “+” sign at the end of the line.

If the virtual space is course-type, then the tasks given for the course are displayed in this element.

Anyone can post a new message on the Message wall. A message posted on the Message wall does not work as a news or forum post, because you cannot write a comment to it. The Message wall shows who posted the message and the first few characters of the message text. You can see the complete message by clicking on “All items”. You can create a new message by clicking the "New message" at the bottom of the tile. After writing the message, you can finalize it with the "Save" button.

Here, you can view the uploaded e-learning materials for the given course and can complete them if needed.

In the Useful links tile, admins and members can put links related to the virtual space. You need to provide a web address and a name for the link. You can also add a description.

Here, you can vote on a poll. Polls can only be started by the lecturer.

Votes can only be casted within the given deadline.

The admins and the members may also start a new forum topic. The Forum item shows the latest 3 topics. The most recent is what has been either started last or has the last reply. By opening the tile in full screen, all forum topics belonging to the selected virtual space are displayed. Here, you can search for a topic or display closed topics. You can also list your favourite forum topics and topics with new replies. The forum can be a closed group forum or external users can be assigned. You can create a new forum by clicking on the "Start new topic" button.

After saving, the window does not disappear, but two tabs appear in it. "Assigned Users" and "Assigned User Groups". Here, you can assign other users to the forum.
